Scar & Lacerations

It is common for someone to sustain a scar or laceration in an accident. We are seeing more and more of this when airbags deploy. If you have sustained this type of injury, you likely will need to consult with a plastic surgeon for treatment and to evaluate whether this injury will result in a permanent mark. Most plastic surgeon will only evaluate the extent of your scarring after it has had a chance to heal for at least 90 to 180 days. In the interim, the most important thing you can do is take photographs of the area in order to document the injury. Do this sooner rather than later and throughout the time you heal. Also, be sure to see your primary doctor for any other treatment that may help you with the discomfort you are experiencing.
